Delphian raises the stakes with its latest new music release featuring complete premiere recordings and a host of exciting new collaborations. Saxophonist superstar John Harle joins with Scottish soprano Susan Hamilton and Delphian artist Matthew Owens in bold works, which are at once both heart-rending and uncompromising.

Allain’s commissions for the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and Laudibus, the award-winning professional group which stems from the NYCGB, have long deserved to be recorded. Mike Brewer’s intimacy, with the extremes of Allain’s music, is cemented in this recording where he directs both choirs with a sensitivity and passion that has to be heard to be believed. Whether refracted through the facets of spiritual, carol, motet or Mass setting, Allain has developed a unique musical dialect malleable enough to cover the gamut of liturgical purposes represented on this disc; his is a music that can only be added to the list of languages from which we should all take inspiration. With advocates such as are on this disc, his music can’t fail to empower the listener.

The 24-page booklet comprises all texts with an essay written by former pupil, Tarik O’Regan.
