| Pachelbel - Complete Organ Recordings |

| Delphian Records is pleased to announce that it will be recording the complete organ works of Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) with Matthew Owens (Master of the Music at St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh). The six discs are to feature six different representative instruments throughout the UK - the first of which is to be Edinburgh's own Ahrend organ housed in the Reid Concert Hall.
Owens, who studied with leading baroque scholar and organist, Jacques van Oortmerssen at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam, remarked 'Pachelbel was one of the most significant composers of the Baroque and his contribution to the organ repertoire considerable. Martin Anderson, recently remarked that "Pachelbel may be a household name, but we hardly know him at all". |

The volume of organ repertoire is vast, comprising more than 90 Magnificat fugues, 60 toccatas, preludes, fugues, and many other works. Coupled with authoritative sleeve notes, these recordings will set the standard as we approach the 300th anniversary of Pachelbel's death in 2006.
